About Us

Lisa Ross-Williams is a natural horse care
consultant and host of the “If Your Horse Could
Talk” webcast available at
www.naturalhorsetalk.com. She is a seasoned
writer, the author of the award winning book
Down-To-Earth Natural Horse Care (www.down-
to-earthnhc.com) and currently the Associate
Editor of Natural Horse Magazine. Along with her
husband, Kenny, they share their Talking Horse
Ranch Educational Center in Arizona with their
beloved animals.
As a child, Lisa grew up with her special equine partner, a ¾ Arabian
mare named Liza. As an adult she re-entered the horse world, feeling
totally unprepared for what she was about to encounter. Against the
advice of others, she acquired a young new horse who she aptly
named Rebel. He was a beautiful gray five-year-old Polish Arab who,
as Lisa says “had pretty much given up on humans and wasn’t afraid
to show it.”
Lisa’s work with Rebel sent her on a journey that would change the
path of her life and his. As she began looking for horse handling
information to deal with his special issues, she realized all the
conventional or ‘normal’ care practices seemed so ‘unnatural’ for
horses. Unable to find a solution, she began a personal quest to find a
better approach.
Lisa dedicated herself to extensive research, as well as an exploration
of hands-on experiences which included clinics, seminars and courses
covering natural horsemanship, hoof care, dentistry, bodywork,
homeopathy, iridology, essential oils and nutrition. Since then, she
has earned her degree in Environmental Plant Science and has
completed the Basic Homeopathy Veterinary course through the
British Institute of Homeopathy. She has completed the Reiki 1-
Equine Reiki course with Kathleen Prasad. Lisa is an accomplished
Natural Horsewoman who has studied extensively with many top
horsemanship instructors for the past 14 years and now offers lessons
as well as nutritional consultations. She also is Certified in Equine
Naturopathy through the American Counsel of Animal Naturopathy.
Known to colleagues and friends as one who “walks her talk,” Lisa has
positively influenced thousands of horse owners and grateful horses,
sharing her knowledge of natural and holistic horse care.
Kenny Williams is a natural hoof care provider and educator, equine
bodyworker, freelance writer and the co-host/technical producer of
the If Your Horse Could Talk webcast. Along with Lisa, they share
their Talking Horse Ranch Educational Center in Arizona with a
menagerie of animals.

As a child, Kenny’s horse experience included occasional rides on a
friend’s pony which often ended up in a ran-away situation. As an
adult, when Rebel (above) entered the picture, he was even more
unprepared for such a spirited and headstrong horse than Lisa was.
However, it soon became obvious that his previous lack of experience
and formal training was a blessing. Having no pre-conceived notions
on how to care and work with horses, the natural horsemanship and
holistic approach to care just made sense.
Kenny started trimming hooves in 1998 out of necessity since the
barefoot approach was still new and there wasn’t a trimmer in the
area. He was a natural at not only understanding what the hoof was
telling him but also had the ability to explain a natural hoof to
everyday people. He utilizes natural horsemanship, essential oils and
the Equine Touch to help balance horses in mind, body and spirit.
Kenny is now offering hoof care consultations, private trimming
instruction and clinics. He has completed the Reiki 1-Equine Reiki
course with Kathleen Prasad and is also a very accomplished Natural
Horseman who has studied with many top horsemanship instructors
and also offers lessons.
His best teachers have been the horses themselves and he’s happy to
pass that knowledge around.
Lisa and her husband Kenny have secured a beautiful ranch in
Cornville, Arizona to apply their own knowledge of natural horse care,
as well as the skills of many other holistic horse practitioners by
creating the Talking Horse Ranch, a holistic educational center.

Dona Sherlock is our office gal who processes all the orders that come
through our on-line store and has been with us since July 2009. She is
trained and utilizes essential oils, muscle testing, homeopathics,
crystal, color therapy and energy healing with humans as well as
animals.
Dona’s personal vision is to allow humans to access tier own inner
truth and knowledge which brings about awareness in consciousness
to remember and become who they really are. Her mission is to
assist with the human/animal awareness by developing tier
relationship be means of translation.
She currently lives in Camp Verde, AZ with her husband Rich, their
horse Maggie, Davey the burro and their two dogs Willie and Zena.
Rebel is a Polish Arab born in 1992 and herd leader. He
was the catalyst that propelled us to find a better way with
horses. He has taught us about emotional fitness and how
our emotions affect our animals. He is truly Lisa’s best
teacher and “soul horse” as evidenced by their magical
relationship.
Smokie, born in 1988, is a
mustang who came to us with
lots of emotional baggage as
shown by 12 homes in 2 years.
He taught us about horses who
retreat into their own little world
and how we can help. His
progress is nothing short of
amazing and he is a “do
anything” handy horse.
Riley, a 2000 orphan colt, unknown breed, who
we saved from auction when he was a couple
weeks old. He taught us the value of proper
nutrition and how much personality a horse can
have. He is the herd Comedian.
Bam Bam, born in
2000, is a Quarter
Horse who came to us
at 6 months old and the
only one not a rescue.
He taught us about hoof
imbalance and the
athleticism of the
American Quarter
Horse.
Elvis, born in 2001, is a
Percheron Paint who is
a by-product of the
PMU (pregnant mares
urine) industry. He had
so many issues, it took
all we learned in the
past to get him
balanced. He is such a
gentle giant (18 hands
and about 2500 lbs).
Cooper is a 2004 mini
colt. He has taught us
about locked stifles and
how to correct that
problem with diet, hoof
care and exercise. He
has also taught us that
amount of spirit has
nothing to do with size.
Simon is a 2007 Donkey. He is like a human in an equine body. We
don't yet know what lesson he is to teach us, but are sure it will be
profound.

Trooper is a 1999 Shetland Pony who is our newest addition to the
herd. He came to us in October 2009 as a rehab case who we fell in
love with. He had been foundered for 3 years; due to metabolic
issues. As of November 14th, he is sound and fitting right in,
especially with Cooper, the mini.
